    Otvorený list pápežovi Levovi XIV.

    Vaša Svätosť, Svätý Otec Lev XIV.
    Gratulujem Vám k zvoleniu v konkláve a modlím sa za Vás, aby ste Vašu službu vykonávali čo najlepšie v službe ľuďom a Katolíckej cirkvi.

    Jedno z Vašich prvých stretnutí bolo stretnutie so zástupcami médií. Ako žurnalista to považujem za veľmi dôležité. Médiá majú slúžiť človeku v pravde a láske. Žiaľ, počas môjho verejného pôsobenia som sa stretol aj s tým, že časť novinárov sa správa ako novinárska mafia. Vydierajú. Zastrašujú. Vďaka nim sa často aj personalisti boja robiť svoju robotu slobodne a profesionálne. Zažil som situáciu, keď som bol prijatý do zamestnania do nemenovaného média. Vybrali ma tí, ktorí ma vybrať mali. Personalisti a vedenie redakcie. Po troch dňoch práce za mnou so slzami v očiach prišla šéfredaktorka a priznala sa, že dve noci nespala. Jej podriadení, novinári redakcie, ju vydierali. Ak ma neprepustí, tak oni všetci dajú výpoveď. Šéfredaktorka a ani vedenie firmy tomuto kroku nerozumeli, lebo novinári nemajú predsa právo vyberať si, koho si ich nadriadená a personalisti vyberú a nevyberú. S mojim pokračovaním v redakcii nemal problém ani majiteľ celej firmy. Ale, žiaľ, novinári ich vydierali a oni ma po troch dňoch prepustili.
    Prosím Vás, Svätý otec, aby ste pri Vašich stretnutiach s novinármi pripomínali zástupcom redakcií, že ich úlohou v službe pravde a láske nie je vydierať. Oni nesmú nahrádzať funkciu súdov, ani personalistov. Novinári nesmú pôsobiť ako novinárska mafia. Ďakujem Vám, že médiám budete pripomínať, že sa nesmú správať ako novinárska mafia a nesmú vydieraťa zastrašovať.
    Modlím sa za Vás, nech sa Vám darí vo Vašej misii.

    Open Letter to Pope Leo XIV

    Your Holiness, Holy Father Leo XIV,

    Congratulations on your election in the conclave. I pray for you, that you may carry out your service in the best possible way, in the service of the people and the Catholic Church.

    One of your first meetings was with representatives of the media. As a journalist, I consider this to be very important. The media should serve humanity in truth and love. Unfortunately, during my public work, I have also witnessed that some journalists behave like a journalistic mafia. They blackmail. They intimidate. Because of them, even human resources personnel are often afraid to do their work freely and professionally.

    I experienced a situation where I was hired by an unnamed media outlet. I was selected by those who were supposed to select me – the HR department and editorial leadership. After three days of work, the editor-in-chief came to me with tears in her eyes and confessed that she had not slept for two nights. Her subordinates – the newsroom journalists – were blackmailing her. They said that if she did not dismiss me, they would all resign. The editor-in-chief and the company’s leadership did not understand such pressure, because journalists should not have the authority to decide whom their superior and HR choose to hire. Even the owner of the entire company had no issue with me continuing in the newsroom. However, due to the journalists’ blackmail, they let me go after just three days.

    I kindly ask you, Holy Father, to remind media representatives during your meetings with them that their mission – in service of truth and love – is not to blackmail. They must not replace the role of courts or human resources departments. Journalists must not behave like a journalistic mafia.

    Thank you for reminding the media that they must not act like a mafia and must not resort to blackmail or intimidation.

    I pray for you and wish you success in your mission.
